Dish with Phoenix Pattern in Painted Enamels K'ang-hsi period (A.D. 1662-1722) Ch'ing Dynasty Diameter 21.3cm This bronze-bodied dish is designed in the shape of 16 petals. Eight fluttering phoenixes against a yellow ground occupy the face of the dish, at whose center are stylized flowers etched round and stained in red. The back of the dish has a white ground. With its elegant shape and bright glaze colors, this is a fine example of the later K'ang- hsi period.
